I don't think many have even a picture of themselves and their family, I'm so excited to help enlighten them and give them oral education.

Please donate! :) Thank you in advance!

Well I'm back :) .. Africa any one?

It's funny how life leads you where you need to go even though you were not planning on any of the steps you took.

Smiles for Ghana is a very dear project to my heart, I didn't realize I would get to relive this whole experience except this time I am traveling to Africa to implement all my hard work! I always have dreamed of going out of the the country and giving back with humanitarian aid. I know that there have been opportunities but it really gets expensive when you are trying to give back. Who would have thought giving of your time, love, and effort would include a heavy bill as well.

Well here I am again, you ever you are who is reading this, Now starts my beginning! I'm officially committing to the heavy bill :) ............. No really I paid the deposit so no going back now even if I don't have the money Ha Ha. May2015 can't come soon enough

OK beginning thoughts that's what I am starting out with right?
Ever since I was little I have been fascinated with Africa, the exotic nature of the unknown you might say. When I met my husband I can't say it didn't have a hand in me choosing to date and potentially marry him.  My husband was "lucky enough" to grow up in a medical missionary family who lived in Africa until he was 19. Since then I've always been envious of that gift, and not knowing any better because I don't know how it really is there. But my husband frequently reminds me that it wasn't a vacation. I'm sort of scared seeing as the only time I've been out of the country was for vacation in Mexico so not a grueling trip but I'm determined to have this experience. Currently no kids to miss me while I'm gone for over a month but a dog I hope that recognizes me when I get back. My husband will have free weekends of no chores so I hope the house isn't a complete disaster when I get back also :) ( Ha Ha just kidding Babe I'm more of a tornado than you) I  heard we are leaving during the rainy season so I'm really excited to experience a serious down pour.  Another fun fact is that were are doing multiple health clinics and usually 200 people show up and wait over two hours to see you. Can you imagine that?  It makes my heart ache just thinking about it, I'm sure I won't come back the same after this trip.

Well signing off for now, I'll keep in touch !

Long Summer/ Mission accomplished!

Here is a final update until I receive research from the project but I am happy to report that we were able to make 100 copies of the packet to Ghana, Africa. I am anticipating an update with the group that went and volunteered and see the impact of the project. I'm so impressed that we actually got this project done and out to the public it took a lot of hard work and dedication. I will be giving another update next week when I can meet with the director.

Exciting News!

Yesterday was extremely productive and a great launching site for our Smiles for Ghana 5K! The Day was filled with visiting local businesses, meeting the volunteers who will be taught and trained to go to Ghana, and finally meeting our graphic designer who has been so gracious to design all our posters and t-shirts for free! So special thanks to Chris for all his hard work.

I had the pleasure of going around with my crew of volunteers and visiting local businesses around the Ogden community and inviting them to participate in our program and 5K FUN RUN. All the businesses visited were extremely helpful and willing to share fund raising ideas and to spread the word to others! I was energized by what awesome businesses and local owners we have in our community. I'm glad that we all share that same passion to help Ghana, Africa with their struggle for health care. Kudos to all those awesome businesses out there and more to come! :)

The meeting yesterday consisted of introducing the volunteers to the Smiles for Ghana program and inviting their support for our commitment to action. We had great enthusiasm and lots of willingness to help and reach out to others. Again we encourage everyone to please invite their friends and family to participate even if in a small way because everything counts.

The website for the 5K pre-registration will be ready by this week. Also stay tuned to Weber radio and to campus postings because Weber State University is about to be plastered with posters advertising our 5K Run on April 9th. Be sure to mark your calendars that date at 8:00am in the morning! The start line and check in will be set up by the Marriot Health building on Weber State Campus.

More updates coming soon but again we want to send special thanks to dental reps supplying needed samples and products to send to Ghana, and also to all those working to help support the cause in any way!
