Long Summer/ Mission accomplished!

Here is a final update until I receive research from the project but I am happy to report that we were able to make 100 copies of the packet to Ghana, Africa. I am anticipating an update with the group that went and volunteered and see the impact of the project. I'm so impressed that we actually got this project done and out to the public it took a lot of hard work and dedication. I will be giving another update next week when I can meet with the director.

Exciting News!

Yesterday was extremely productive and a great launching site for our Smiles for Ghana 5K! The Day was filled with visiting local businesses, meeting the volunteers who will be taught and trained to go to Ghana, and finally meeting our graphic designer who has been so gracious to design all our posters and t-shirts for free! So special thanks to Chris for all his hard work.

I had the pleasure of going around with my crew of volunteers and visiting local businesses around the Ogden community and inviting them to participate in our program and 5K FUN RUN. All the businesses visited were extremely helpful and willing to share fund raising ideas and to spread the word to others! I was energized by what awesome businesses and local owners we have in our community. I'm glad that we all share that same passion to help Ghana, Africa with their struggle for health care. Kudos to all those awesome businesses out there and more to come! :)

The meeting yesterday consisted of introducing the volunteers to the Smiles for Ghana program and inviting their support for our commitment to action. We had great enthusiasm and lots of willingness to help and reach out to others. Again we encourage everyone to please invite their friends and family to participate even if in a small way because everything counts.

The website for the 5K pre-registration will be ready by this week. Also stay tuned to Weber radio and to campus postings because Weber State University is about to be plastered with posters advertising our 5K Run on April 9th. Be sure to mark your calendars that date at 8:00am in the morning! The start line and check in will be set up by the Marriot Health building on Weber State Campus.

More updates coming soon but again we want to send special thanks to dental reps supplying needed samples and products to send to Ghana, and also to all those working to help support the cause in any way!

Visiting local Businesses and Official meeting!

Tomorrow night is the official Study abroad to Ghana meeting where I will be presenting our first view of the instructional packet to the volunteers, and inviting them to participate in the volunteer training program we have set up to help them teach the local health professionals. Our regular meeting times will depend on the volunteer schedules but we are excited to teach them all the dental education, which knowledge they will be taking down with them to Ghana, West Africa. I will put a complete update of tomorrow's events late tomorrow evening.

Also tomorrow my crew of additional volunteers and I will be visiting local businesses and health care professionals to see if they would be interested in donating to our cause or sponsoring our 5K FUN RUN held at Weber State University! This should be a very eventful day and exciting to see the community come together to bring these supplies to Africa :) If any of you are interested in donating or becoming a sponsor it is $50.00 to sponsor the cause and receive your business logo on the 5K T-shirt. Although any and all donations are accepted! Please make checks out to Charity Beyond Boarders addressed to:
            Weber State University Respiratory Therapy
            Attention Lisa Trujillo
            3904 University Circle
            Ogden, Utah 84408

The sign up for the 5K is being updated as we speak so it should be up and running by next week so all of you can sign up and get ready to run! We look forward to a great turnout!
